Meet Kelly Groh, RAC Member 2024

Question: Tell us a little more about yourself

A: “My name is Linsey Ferrell, and I’m passionate about driving meaningful change through nonprofit leadership. I grew up in Lawson, MO, and the Kansas City area has always been home. My parents still live in Lawson and run a small business in Excelsior Springs, so my connection to the area runs deep. With nearly two decades of experience in healthcare and now nonprofit management, I’ve dedicated my career to building programs and partnerships that create opportunities and improve lives, particularly for underserved populations.”

Q: Tell us about what your occupation is, and why you chose to work at your place of business??

A: “As the Director of Development and Partnerships at Sherwood Autism Center, I focus on creating opportunities—whether by securing funding, fostering connections, or leading initiatives supporting individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. I was drawn to this work because I’ve seen the life-changing difference that access to quality care and support can make. My background in healthcare has shown me the importance of addressing barriers to care, and this role allows me to contribute directly to meaningful, transformative change.”

Q: Why is philanthropy and giving back so important to you?

A: “Growing up in a small town, I witnessed people come together to support one another during challenging times. Philanthropy is a way of extending that spirit, empowering individuals, and strengthening communities through collective effort. For me, giving back is more than an act of kindness—it’s a way to create lasting opportunities for people to overcome obstacles and thrive.”

Q: How has the Foundation helped you and your community?

A: “The Liberty Hospital Foundation plays an essential role in addressing healthcare needs across the region. Programs like the Patient Assistance Fund and Kyleigh’s Gift demonstrate the Foundation’s commitment to providing compassionate care for all. These initiatives touch lives in ways that go far beyond the hospital walls, building stronger, healthier communities.”

Q: What is your favorite Foundation program and why?

A: “The Patient Assistance Program is my favorite Liberty Hospital Foundation initiative because of the incredible impact it has on individuals in need. I’ve seen firsthand how past clients have benefited from support with durable medical equipment (DME), medications, and transportation services. These resources provide essential aid to patients, especially those in the geriatric population with barriers to accessing medical care, enabling them to focus on their health and recovery without the added burden of financial stress. This program embodies the Foundation’s commitment to compassionate care and makes a tangible difference in the lives of so many in our community.”
