Meet Miranda Mulder, MSN, BSN, RN, CCRN

Question: Why did you become a nurse?

A: “I wanted the opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on people’s lives by providing care and support, especially during vulnerable times.”

Q: What is your favorite part of being a nurse?

A: “The ability to make a difference in people’s lives, especially during vulnerable times, is a deeply rewarding aspect of the job. The constant learning and growth opportunities, the diverse range of roles available, and the sense of purpose that comes with caring for others.”

Q: What advice would you give an aspiring nurse?

A: “To an aspiring nurse, the most important advice is to embrace a lifelong commitment to learning and growth, prioritize self-care, and develop strong communication skills, empathy, and resilience. It’s also crucial to build a supportive network and seek out mentorship from experienced nurses.”

Q: What keeps you motivated during tough shifts?

A: “As a leader my shifts look different than working as a bedside nurse. But I constantly remind myself that I would not ask my teams to do anything that I wouldn’t do.  Knowing that the meaning of my work is building positive relationships and fostering a supportive work environment for my teams keeps me motivated internally and externally because we are continually working to improve the performance of nurses in providing quality care so that we can better serve our community.”

Q: What has been your best experience at the Hosptial that made you enjoy nursing more?

A: “The best experience at the hospital that has made me enjoy nursing is being given the opportunity to be a leader.  I became a leader because of the intangible satisfaction of helping other nurses achieve their goals. Being able to share my knowledge and experiences enables me to guide young nurses on their journeys. Watching their growth affirms that I am cultivating great nurses who are positively impacting patients, families, and the community.”
