Meet Timothy Walker, RN, CDCES
Question: Why did you become a nurse?
A: “I was inspired and excited to become a nurse mostly because I wanted to help people and by my sister-in- law who is nurse.”
Q: What is your favorite part of being a nurse?
A: “My favorite part of being a nurse is seeing people become successful managing their diabetes and knowing that I had a small part in that success.”
Q: What advice would you give an aspiring nurse?
A: “Find a mentor in a specialty or segment of nursing you have an interest. Don’t be afraid to pursue an area of nursing where you have interest just because you have little to no experience.”
Q: What keeps you motivated during tough shifts?
A: “The thought that I am assisting people reach their best health and, in some ways, improving their quality of life.”
Q: What has been your best experience at the Hosptial that made you enjoy nursing more?
A: “I had a patient that had been through one of the group classes with his wife and he was here for a follow-up appointment to see his doctor, and he came in unprompted at the end of one of my classes, and said ” listen to Tim he helped me with my diabetes, and he can help you with your diabetes.” That kind of feedback is always inspirational to me and makes me enjoy what I am doing that much more.”
