Meet Venita Deavers, RN

Question: Why did you become a nurse?

A: “I became a nurse because I love helping people and love to be able to make a difference in people’s lives. I also come from a big family, so I have always loved to be able to take care of people.”

Q: What is your favorite part of being a nurse?

A: “Making a difference in my patients lives and being able to see them improve in their health throughout their stay.”

Q: What advice would you give an aspiring nurse?

A: “Embrace the challenges that are thrown at you and use them as a learning experience, remember to try and stay calm and never lose your passion. Nursing is a career that you are constantly learning at.”

Q: What keeps you motivated during tough shifts?

A: “Knowing that I have the ability to impact someone’s life in a good way. I also have my beautiful family at home that motivates me and looks up to me, so they are a wonderful motivation.”

Q: What has been your best experience at the Hosptial that made you enjoy nursing more?

A: “So many experiences it’s hard to name just one. One big one is when I have not seen a patient for a few months and they came back into the hospital and as soon as I walked in the room, they said my name and told me how they had missed me and thought about the care I gave them the last time they were here. This patient even remembered my kids’ names and everything. That is why I became a nurse; I was able to make a great impression on my patients.”
