LIBERTY, MO. (April 26, 2023) – The Liberty Hospital Foundation has received a $495,000 grant from The Sunderland Foundation to support the Branching Out capital campaign! Nearly 50,000 patients and families have experienced the Liberty Hospital Treehouse’s inviting premises since 2005. Guest feedback guided the overdue expansion, design and furnishing upgrades to a user- experience standard. Liberty Hospital Foundation’s Executive Director, Michael C. Russell, CAE said, “This amazing gift from The Sunderland Foundation will help patients and families in the Northland of Kansas City and beyond find further peace despite the effects of travel. We know these funds will support the community, help fulfill both The Sunderland Foundation’s mission, complete our vision for a TreeHouse Reimagined, and positively impact the lives of thousands in the process.”
Randy Vance, President & Chief Operating Officer of The Sunderland Foundation said, “We at The Sunderland Foundation seek to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. The TreeHouse at Liberty Hospital is no exception. We believe that the TreeHouse is an important part of the Community; a refreshed hospitality space and outdoor areas will help bring serenity to families facing challenging times.” More than 500 organizations, businesses, and individuals have also contributed to reimagine the ten bedrooms, private baths, open kitchen areas, two patio spaces, landscaped gardens, walking trail, and gathering spaces.
Robust changes are planned to update ADA accommodations, finish the lower-level meeting space for local support groups, provide a test prep kitchen for nutritionists to impart dietary methods, and a Patient Resource Room dedicated to the reality of cancer. Former beneficiaries, such as Suzanne from Mercer, MO say “It’s hard to put into words how much relief The Treehouse brought us.” The capital campaign remains underway with the goal of doubling guest feedback as a return on investment.
