Loretta and I give to the Liberty Hospital Foundation because of the Foundation’s commitment to compassion and caring in everything they do, from The Tree House, to Kyleigh’s Gift, to educational grants and scholarships, to the Patient Assistance Fund and to the Hughes Family Assistance Fund. The Foundation is committed to responding to the needs of Liberty Hospital employees, Liberty Hospital patients and their families.

As a personal example of the Foundation’s commitment to compassionate caring, let us focus on the Hughes Family Assistance Fund. Charlie was Director of Social Services at Liberty Hospital for 31 years. In honor of his retirement in 2012, the Foundation established the Hughes Family Assistance Fund. It was created by generous gifts from Hospital President and CEO, David Feese, Liberty Hospital employees and the Foundation Board of Trustees. Today the fund is maintained with ongoing gifts from Liberty Hospital employees through the annual employee giving program, as well as donations made by friends of the hospital and community members.

The employee family assistance fund exists to offer financial assistance with family crises including loss of home due to fire or natural disasters, loss of an immediate family member, a devastating illness, paying utilities to avoid shutoff, and gift cards for groceries.

This assistance is an important way the Foundation helps foster a sense of family for the Liberty Hospital family. Employees know, “if a crisis enters my life, someone has my back so I can focus on doing my job to the best of my ability with caring and compassion.” This makes everyone a winner, the individual who donates, the individual who receives assistance during their crisis and the patient who receives compassionate care because the employee can focus on doing their best work.

Regular giving to the Liberty Hospital Foundation is a priority and privilege for us. This is why we give!
