LIBERTY, Mo., February 28, 2025LIBERTY, Mo., February 28, 2025LIBERTY, Mo., February 28, 2025 – LIBERTY, Mo., March 28, 2025 – The sun showed up early, and so did the runners—1,532 of them, in fact—from 25 states and every level of experience, ambition, and sneaker style. The 2025 Liberty Hospital Half Marathon & 5K not only smashed participation records but also warmed our hearts (and foreheads) with unseasonably warm temps, sky-high energy, and a course that reminded every participant exactly where Liberty gets its strength—from the hills up.

More than 1,000 volunteers lined the route, passed out water, cheered at corners, and proved once again that when it comes to showing up for health and for each other, Liberty doesn’t mess around.

From the first corral to the final finisher, the vibe was electric. And while medals were earned, it’s the impact that truly shines. Thanks to the generosity and passion of our sponsors, participants, and this powerhouse community, the race brought in critical funding to support the Liberty Hospital Foundation’s amazing programs—programs that touch thousands of lives every year.

“It’s incredible to see our community rally like this,” said Michael C. Russell, CAE, Executive Director of the Liberty Hospital Foundation. “This race isn’t just about miles—it’s about heart. It’s about supporting healthcare access, wellness, and one another. We’re proud to keep growing this tradition.”

The 2025 event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible backing of our partners:

  • Presenting Sponsor: Hy-Vee

  • Expo Sponsor: Visit Liberty Tourism

  • Silver Sponsor: Meritain Health

  • Kids Run Sponsor: Spencer Fane

  • Bib Sponsor: Thomann Financial Services, Inc.

  • Finish Line Sponsor: Union State Bank of Shoal Creek

  • Media Sponsor: Currier Tribune

Each sponsor played a key role in creating a world-class experience for every runner, from the tiniest Kids Run participants to the most seasoned half marathon warriors.

And speaking of warriors—Kyle Walker, host of the Back of the Pack Podcast, offered this perfect take:

“This is the most difficult half marathon in Kansas City. They can wear that like a badge of honor, but they are the toughest but yet most rewarding race in the Kansas City area!.”
