Liberty LiveWell Foundation FAQs2025-11-20T15:27:28-06:00

Our next chapter

We Are Liberty LiveWell Foundation

Friends of the Foundation,

The relationship between the City of Liberty, the Liberty Hospital community, the New Liberty
Hospital District, and The University of Kansas Health System has never been stronger. Together, we
reflect the very best of what it means to be neighbors. For more than forty years, our Foundation
has stood as a bridge between care and community, working hand in hand to advance health,
wellness, and education for those we serve. Our next chapter builds on that legacy, not changing
who we are but strengthening how we live our mission.

Please continue to reference this page for updates throughout our transition.

Foundation Transition FAQs

Why is the Liberty Hospital Foundation changing its name to the Liberty LiveWell Foundation?2025-11-20T14:24:41-06:00

In 2024 Liberty Hospital made the important decision to partner with the University of Kansas Health System. This partnership enhances Liberty Hospital’s long term stability and strengthens the hospital’s ability to provide world class healthcare to our community.

The Liberty Hospital name is now affiliated with and governed by the University of Kansas Health System. To continue serving our community with clarity and transparency, the Foundation board voted to adopt a name that reflects both our history and our expanding community role.

What is the new mission statement and purpose?2025-11-24T14:54:29-06:00

Our purpose remains much the same, to support Liberty Hospital and its community.  The Foundation exists to strengthen community health, education, and wellness through charitable care, projects, services, and facilities. Our work supports residents of the Liberty Hospital community and those receiving care at University of Kansas Health System – Liberty Hospital.

What happens to the Foundation’s programs?2025-11-24T14:13:39-06:00

The Foundation will continue to support programs that fall within our mission. Many programs will remain in place. This includes funding and operating the TreeHouse, our ten room hospitality house located on the Liberty Hospital campus, providing nursing scholarships for students in our community, and general wellness initiatives.

We are also working with the health system to explore the long term placement of certain programs. Hospital leadership and the Foundation’s Board of Directors will stay involved as these conversations continue.

What happens to the Foundation’s current funds?2025-11-20T14:31:16-06:00

All funds held by the Liberty Hospital Foundation remain with the Foundation. They will stay in our community and will always be used for the purpose which they were originally given.

How does this affect our 501(c)(3) status and the tax deductibility of gifts?2025-11-24T11:18:45-06:00

The Foundation will continue to operate as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization exactly as we have for the last forty years. Our EIN will remain the same: 43-1356176. Donations made in 2025 and beyond will remain tax deductible. The name change does not affect that process.

How are recurring donations and payroll deduction donations affected?2025-11-26T10:34:32-06:00

The Foundation will continue normal operations. If you have a recurring donation in place, it will continue without interruption. You are always welcome to contact the Foundation with any questions.

Employees who give through payroll deduction will receive communication with the option to continue, change, or stop their donation. Until the hospital transitions to the Workday payroll system, employees can contact payroll at payroll@libertyhospital.org to make adjustments. After the Workday transition is complete, employee donors will receive instructions for updating their donation in the new system.

New hospital employees will be able to donate to the hospital through payroll deduction via the health system. New hospital employees will not be able to donate to the Foundation through payroll deduction.

Where can I view the new bylaws?2025-11-24T11:48:23-06:00

What is your partnership with Liberty Hospital and The University of Kansas Health System?2025-11-20T14:35:07-06:00

We remain committed to supporting Liberty Hospital and our community. Although the Foundation has always been a separate legal entity from the hospital, we have always worked closely together, and that collaboration will continue. Leadership from both Liberty Hospital and the University of Kansas Health System have been engaged and supportive throughout this transition. We will continue to support on campus programs such as the TreeHouse and other programs that align with our mission.

How do I give to Liberty LiveWell Foundation?2025-11-26T11:01:20-06:00

We are accepting donations to support our TreeHouse, scholarship, and wellness programs through our existing donation site.

For donations related to hospital support, grateful patient donations, and general donations outside the scope of the identified Liberty LiveWell Foundation programs, please work with the University of Kansas Health Systems at: https://www.kansashealthsystem.com/giving

Will there be staffing transitions?2025-11-24T13:17:09-06:00

Yes. With the Foundation’s updated scope and program focus, we are updating our staffing model to align with the work ahead. As of December 21, the Foundation will initially operate with one administrative employee along with the TreeHouse hospitality house staff.

Our remaining Foundation staff will transition to the University of Kansas Health System in December. We are grateful that the health system and Liberty Hospital leadership have been so involved and caring with the Foundation staff throughout this transition.

Will the Foundation still host events?2025-11-24T14:39:30-06:00

Yes, we will continue hosting events, although some may evolve to better align with our updated mission. Our next event is coming up soon as we look ahead to the RUN Liberty half marathon, 10k, 5k, and kids run on Saturday, March 28. Registration is available at https://www.runliberty.org/

We will also be hosting our Twilight at the TreeHouse gala on Friday, June 12, 2026, in the gardens at the TreeHouse. More information to come on Twilight.

Our Kyleigh’s Gift event will be changing, with the candlelight vigil expected to become the main focus of the evening.

Will the Foundation’s Employee Assistance Program (Hughes Family Assistance) Continue?2025-11-26T10:31:16-06:00

We are currently evaluating this program with our donors and the health system to determine what it will look like going forward, including whether it will continue in its current form or transition in a new direction. The Foundation has committed to supporting this program through our fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. Unfortunately, due to high demand, we reached our annual budget just 4.5 months into the fiscal year after providing 32 assistance grants, and applications are currently closed for this program.
