LIBERTY, Mo., June 13, 2025- Together with Visit Liberty, MO, the Liberty Hospital Foundation is excited to present the RUN Liberty Series for 2026-2028.  This new partnership between the City as the Presenting Sponsor and the Foundation for the next three years is an investment in Liberty Hospital and Liberty tourism.  For the next three years, the City is committed to sponsor the classic RUN Liberty race starting on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, for its 10th Anniversary.  For the 10th Anniversary, the RUN Liberty Series is adding on a 10K distance for the first time ever.  Runners can now register for a half marathon, a 10K, or a 5K starting at the Historic William Jewell College campus, winding around downtown Liberty, its neighborhoods, the Hospital’s walking trail and ending back at Greene Stadium for a photo finish.

The economic impact that this race brings in ultimately helps local businesses in the area.  With 2,000 runners from over 20 states and two countries, tourism booms during this weekend; nearly all local hotels are sold out.

“We are excited to take on the presenting sponsorship for the RUN Liberty Series in support of the Liberty Hospital Foundation,” said Liberty Mayor, Greg Canuteson. “Visit Liberty is all about attracting visitors to Liberty and promoting the things to do in our great City. Liberty is the best City on Planet Earth and we can’t wait for the runners to see the new Run Liberty Series brand and add a 10K race to go with the already popular Half Marathon and 5K.”

Additionally, every dollar raised by RUN Liberty is donated to Liberty Hospital Foundation’s Patient Assistance Program.  This program supports under and uninsured patients receive the care they need right here in Liberty.

“We are truly grateful for the funding we receive through RUN Liberty,” said Raghu Adiga, MD, CEO of the Liberty Market for The University of Kansas Health System. “The proceeds are mainly used for our Patient Assistance Program, which helps patients with transportation for their medical care, covers the cost of medications, provides clothing and supports other essential needs our patients have.”

Registration for the 2026 race will open on June 16th, stay tuned for more announcements.
