LIBERTY, Mo., March 29, 2024 – On Saturday, March 23rd over 2,000 runners, walkers, community members, Kid’s Run participants, and 250+ volunteers joined in for the 2nd coldest race in its 7-year history.  This race started as a way to engage the Northland community in health initiatives, and it has since grown into one of the ten largest races in the Kansas City Metro.  The race has evolved courses over the years, and is esteemed as one of the hardest, yet most rewarding race in the Metro.  This is also the largest event the Liberty Hospital Foundation is proud to present beyond the Liberty Hospital community; with runners coming from over 20 states and two countries, this race has become a staple event for runners nation-wide.

With this support, every dollar raised in registrations, sponsorships, and event donations directly fund vital programs at the Foundation.  Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Hy-Vee, and our 5K Sponsor William Jewell College, for your commitment to the Liberty community.  Together, our sponsors help us bring to life this massive event in the Northland.  We also couldn’t do it without the City of Liberty or Liberty Police Department for making sure our runners are well organized and safe.

Dru Peregrine, the Secretary on the Foundation’s Board of Directors, also sits on the Race Committee as our Finish Line Coordinator.  “The race had so many fun additions this year,” said Dru.  “From food trucks to new course entertainment and a new race committee, I am so proud of this event.  When my boyfriend finished the race he said, ‘you didn’t tell me about all of the hills!’  But he certainly felt an immense amount of accomplishment, and that’s the magic of this race.”

Thank you to the entire race committee, Nathan Spencer, KC Running Company, UnCover KC, Dru, Fran Tran, The William Jewell operations team, Liberty Hospital Grounds and Marketing team, and City of Liberty Marketing time for your countless hours planning this race for nearly an entire year to make it the best it can be.

Read our impact report on the volunteer team for the race.  With over 1,000 hours of donated time, the Liberty Hospital Foundation is grateful for the support it takes to execute the Liberty Half Marathon & Jewell 5K.
